“Breath, Eyes, Memory” by Edwidge Danticat

I loved this book about a woman’s childhood in Haiti and return as an adult, along with her difficult relationship with her mother and deeply connected relationship with her aunt. It beautifully, powerfully conveys story, setting, and people.

Content notes for abuse and trauma. It is also about healing and living life joyfully despite trauma.

Highly recommended.
